summer.jpg

It was a last minute decision to enter this week, but as I'm making very good progress on Shock and Awe I had a bit more creative free time than I thought.

Summer = Heat. The one movie that sizzles with heat and is all about heat is Body Heat - a great film noir thriller set in Florida - and the inspiration for this pulp/glam/noir drawing. So where there's heat, there's summer....and love and murder....and hence this drawing.

Tzzzzz didn’t want to be the first to touch your Summer illustration because it looks too hot! Particularly like the one day growth and associated text smile

I haven’t contributed to these challenges for a while now and this one put me off because I have little trantrums when those northeners forget that half the world has the opposite seasons to them.

Your illustration reminds me that I should climb down off my high horse and look for opportunities instead.

As usual - this is great.

Love, love, love this! Great use of colour on the lips and the dialog is fabulous! The whole piece screams “outrageous!”. I will definitely check out the film, Detlef XD

I declare! (For you wintry Aussies, this is an old Southernism, the Southern US, I mean!) Does anyone else feel a bit warm in here? Detlef, great job.

This is one of my all-time favorite movies!  Of course it’s best viewed in the dead of winter during a blizzard, as a reminder of sultry summer.  The tight cropping creates the same kind of tension that permeates the movie.

Thanks for your compliment, I liked your summer of love illustration. It’s true..everything heats up in the summer time. Alot of kissing.. People just lose their heads and get caught up in the passion of the moment. You captured that well.
