I recently went through a phase where all I was interested in drawing were subjects with a noir-ish theme. I always enjoyed the film genre - no doubt aided by my undergraduate study that compelled us for a whole year to watch a stack of old B&W movies (mainly noir classics such as The Big Sleep, The Maltese Falcon, Double Indemnity et al) - but for some reason felt compelled to revisit it but this time as a group of drawings. I like the slightly disoriented feel to this one and the mix of noir elements: smoking gun, femme fatale, associated hoods, and the hit and crime scene. What to do with it now - is it too dark to enter in a competition?

Wow!
This drawing is beautifully composed, with a superb balance of values, and dead dramatic. I would definitely enter it somewhere Have you considered showing your work to publications? It seems like you could be a fantastic illustrator too.

What a great drawing. It immediately evokes an emotion….the mark of great piece of art work. This needs to be entered in a competition!
