I started drawing again this weekend. I think I needed to for my own sanity. Even if it is just to take my mind off the forthcoming trip to New York, the excitement and anticipation is at fever pitch, and drawing at least partially puts that into the background for a couple of hours at a time. Anyway, have gone the natural history theme with this drawing, just like the last one, and indeed features birds yet again (three in this case). This drawing will be a bit of throwaway whimsy. Eventually that light black (is that an oxymoron?) will be a jet black, and just demonstrates how much layering is required to build up the colour. The square patch next to the eye will require some other colours to mixed with black so I haven't begun the layering there yet.

I think I must be part bird, at least I seem to have an affinity with them. It's coming along quite well, and will hopefully occupy me for some of the time between now and early October. Excuse me now while I go and preen myself.
