Size: 360 mm x 530 mm
A very cold and windy day and really that was enough to deter me from cycling today. So I hit the drawing board instead. Layering down thin sheets of colour is a time consuming task, to get the richness of the red I put down 6 layers. The exposed under half of bird #2 shows what the plumage looks like with 2 layers of colour. This section will probably need more layers given I need to mix in some grays so as to provide depth and curvature to the breast. I'll try and work on this during the week, at night, with the hope of getting this bird completed before I head to New York.

That is amazing plumage on his headdress. Wow! My first thought was of a Spanish flamenco dancer. Mother Nature sure is remarkable, and you do such an excellent job of paying her tribute.
You are headed to NY? Such a long flight for you!

I’m just assuming that the pterodactyl is just to the left of the crow and you weren’t able to fit it in the camera frame…

Always a treat to see your pieces grow! I can’t wait to see the third bird start to take form!
cheers!
