The genesis of this drawing is an album called Calenture by one of the greatest Australian bands - The Triffids. Calenture is described in the sleeve notes as:

Tropical fever or delirium suffered by sailors after long periods away from land, who imagine the seas to be green fields and desire to leap into them.

Since I stumbled the word for the first time I've been intrigued by it, and thought it would make a great theme for a drawing as it connotes so many powerful images. It's taken me awhile to get this out of my head and onto paper, probably very similar to a sailor going slowly mad. Can calenture be repaired, or is it case of jumping into the ocean....inevitably drowning or having the sharks take you. Perhaps that's the only repair.
