What's in a name? In a strange twist of fate much of the weekend was taken up by trying to outwit the Waterhouse name.
Firstly, on the punt (Golden Slipper day) trying to back horses not trained by Gai Waterhouse was only partially successful. To be truthful an accidental bet on a Waterhouse runner made the day a punting success - but seriously I can't stand the woman. Thankfully, I'm not alone on this, my punting buddies concur, but the sporting media seem to adore her.
Secondly, trying to come up with a subject for the Waterhouse Prize - a natural history art prize. In the end, I'm taking the bold step of drawing a snail. Yes, that's right a SNAIL! I hope it'll be different to the infinite number of bird, botanical, and marsupial subjects that will no doubt be submitted.
Fingers crossed, maybe the Waterhouse curse is about to be broken.
PS. Some more drawings will be added shortly, so stay tuned.
