Illustration Friday

Strings

image

Medium: Pencil/graphite
Size: 270mm x 230mm

This is actually part of an uncompleted drawing dealing with a rare form of mental illness/delirium.  Hopefully, I can complete it over the coming weekend.  Whilst the subject isn’t strings per se, it appears string like to me and if the brain can be wired and people can be highly strung then in my view it qualifies.

It does raise the hoary old chestnut, about how long is a piece of string - a very common cliche.  I just wish someone would define how long a piece of string is and put us all out of misery.  In the absence of anyone doing it I’m settling for 28.4 centimetres as the officially decreed length.  So anything longer than that is a rope and anything shorter can be deemed a thread.

I like this just the way it is. It could be a drawing in it’s own right.

Nothing beats a good old drawing. This is wonderful! And thanks for solving the string theory. Who knew I’d get a two-fer when I stopped by!

Wow..really like the abstractness of this...the local art college does a work called ‘infinite drawing’ where you take an object and continue to redraw it so that there is a sense of depth and space and form...really awesome and look forward to the finished work...will be showing this to the class.
